I've finally reopened my Etsy store, and I am offering you my new little zine called "Little Haunted Houses". And to celebrate it all I am doing a giveaway!
The first issue's theme is Winter.
I chose winter because I love love this season. But also, while I was in Korea, and not so happy, for me winter represented home and Canada, and I wished with all my heart to feel cold air on my face, and see snow around me. Now that I am here, and that I can see those things around me, it really does feel like home and it does make me happy. Making winter the theme of the first issue of my little zine, seemed a great way to celebrate that.
GIVEAWAY DONE! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED!
For more info on the zine, or if you do not want to wait or participate in the giveaway, check out my ETSY STORE (or click on the banner at the top of this post). you can buy my zine there :)
Thank you all for your support and kind words, it means a lot to me :) xxx
My favorite thing about winter is the silence of the woods when it snows. I can stand under the trees and only hear the snow softly falling past. Snow has the ability to make everything peaceful and it is just so lovely to take it all in.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about winter is snuggling under blankets with hot coco and a good book.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about winter is walking on fresh snow, feeling my feet sinking in a little, hear the noise the snow makes when I step on it, you know, that soft prrr prrr prrr it makes. And then when it starts snowing I look up and see the snow flakes coming towards me, I get dizzy and feel I might fall, but it's the most wonderfull feeling.
ReplyDelete<3
every winter without fail i watch my absolute favorite christmas movie: Love Actually. i didn't realize it had become a tradition until lately. nowadays what i'm loving to do a lot is knit while listening to Eric Satie and keeping cozy under a warm blanket. it's quite lovely.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite thing about winter is the tiny hushed barely-sound of snow falling on snow, and when you look up and can hardly distinguish between snowflakes and stars.
ReplyDeleteI love walking in snow, the most romantic things ever!
ReplyDeleteThere's no winter where I live (Brazil)
ReplyDeleteI've never seen snow =(
But it looks so magical on the pics ♥

ReplyDeleteI love how incredibly silent the world is when it's snowing or has been snowing, it's so peaceful.
ReplyDeleteI love watching snowflakes float to the ground softly like delicate ballerinas. (And your zine looks fantastic.)
ReplyDeleteMy absolute favorite thing about winter, that makes me ache for the season far too early, is the aftermath of the giant snowstorms. When people first start to peep out of their houses to see absolutely everything white and pure, with no footprints to be seen, they hesitate to step.
ReplyDeletethis book looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeletei love seeing how the world looks transformed after a snowfall. especially the trees with snow on their branches. it's magical!
I also mentioned your give away on my blog :)

my favorite thing is sitting next to a fire cuddled up with a book and hot coco listening to the rain against the window =D
ReplyDeletemy favorite thing about winter is simply how cosy and beautiful the nights are when it is snowing outside. i might be terribly freezing, but looking into all the houses with the soft warm orange glow of their lights on as the snow falls around me, the night in filtered blue makes the idea of being inside those houses so cosy and inviting. it's the best feeling to come in from the cold to a warm home, turning on christmas music and lighting some candles and settling down with a good book and a warm cup of tea.
ReplyDeleteI love Winter the most - I really like the special stillness and the feeling of waking up to look at the sheets of untouched snow is incredible. I love opening my curtains and finding everything so perfect and beautiful. Another thing I adore is that I feel more free with everyone indoors and me free to explore in the cold.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the competition!
I live in the southern Hemisphere, so it's becoming a hot, stinking summer.
ReplyDeleteI yearn for winter. Dressing in thick knits, tights, socks and furry hats. Also, I love the dark, cold nights where you just snuggle up in your bed! <3
Every winter pretty much of my whole life, me and my family have sat by the fire and the Christmas tree indoors sipping on hot chocolate, laughed and played board games on cold lonely nights. It just makes everything seem better. Of course, I also love the snow in the trees, the frosty mornings and wrapping up warm in oversized jumpers, and it's winter at Christmas in England so everyone's always happy and giving and that just makes winter seem alot more cosy and welcoming for me. :)
ReplyDeletei live in sunny southern california, so no "real" winter! but i love the joys of the season and the traditions of the holidays- warm, spiced cooking, twinkling lights, the excuse to wear flannel and plaid and cozy oversized sweaters as much as you like, and endless cups of tea... Oh it's beautiful. I will try my luck in the giveaway but I will most probably buy one anyway if I don't win. It looks magnificent. My favourite thing about winter is the frost, oh the frost. Glittering on trees, glimmering on grass, shimmering on eyelashes. It makes everything look so beautiful and ghostly. And if there is a thick fog to accompany it, I could die of happiness. xxx
ReplyDeleteMy favourite thing about winter is dancing in the snow under streetlamps, with bare feet and numb toes and red cheeks. There is nothing more beautiful than trying to catch as many snowflakes as you can and watching them filter through the light.
ReplyDeleteAlso, it always makes me feel so proud to be Canadian. :)
my favourite thing about the season itself is stepping outdoors into such elegant grey skies and feeling the frost bite your cheeks, filling warm lungs with air so cold it makes your bones shiver.
ReplyDeleteyour books look incredibly lovely, i must say. :) xx
I'm happy you're back on etsy, your zine is so cute and heart-warming :)
ReplyDeleteMy fav season is summer now but I also love those winter days when it's freezing outside but the sky is so clear and the sunlight so bright it makes the ice on the trees sparkle as little diamonds. This morning the ice made everything white and beautiful and it really reconciled me with winter after months of rain and fog...
Om my, what a special little creation. I was so very excited about it that I just couldn't wait. I had to pop right over to your lovely little etsy shop and purchase one for myself! I'm not commenting to be entered in the giveaway, just to say how very adorable this is!
ReplyDeletexx and hugs

My favorite thing about winter is the snowy, cozy days full of sitting inside under a blanket, reading blogs and drinking hot chocolate!
ReplyDeleteYour zine looks so cute by the way!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about winter is the knowledge that even though the trees are bare, even though the animals are hibernating, even though there's cold permeating every heat source...you know that spring is just around the corner, with blooming flowers, with new life, with warmth.
ReplyDeleteBut another thing I love about winter IS the cold, because you can bundle up in a blanket with hot cocoa and a good book. Christmas is present which means you can spend time with your family, especially if you haven't seen them in a month or longer. You get to have lots of laughter, cheer, love and care that you may need because the weather outside may suck that all away.
And here's the link to my blog where I talked about your contest :) http://spfisterer.wordpress.com/2010/12/17/its-the-giving-season/
Awww this is so cute! Hm... my favorite part about winter is the snow! I love the snow so much! I think its so beautiful. I love sitting by the window with a nice hot cup of tea and watching the snowflakes fall. Its so peadful.^-^ Oh and I talked about your give way on my blog. Cloud Kingdom Thank you so much for doing this. Im going to go look at your Etsy shop now. ^.^
ReplyDeleteI love when the autumn goes away and snow carefully covers dry crispy maple leaves. The snowflakes fall on my cheeks and the cheeks turn rose pink. I walk and I slide on the icy ground. I breathe the fresh air and I get into the could car. To get warm, I drink the tea from my old thermos. There's some hoarfrost on the windows and I touch it with my warm hands. I see the grey city, but to me, it's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteoh, and i've posted a message about the giveaway on my blog x

My absolute favorite thing about winter is going to visit my boyfriend's family in Minnesota. They live out in the country on a huge lake and waking up the winter stillness is absolutely amazing.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite thing about winter is that is not summer! :D But seriously, what I love the most about winter are the clothes.
ReplyDeleteI've mentioned it in my two blogs (one in Spanish, one in English):

my favourite thing about winter is dressing for the weather! i love being able to wear sweater tights, skirt, dresses, oxfords, and coats without being painfully hot!
ReplyDeleteThis is a very hard question for Winter is so full of little sparkly treasures, I think the thing I like the most about Winter is how fragile and magical the rain drops look on the tree branches, reflecting the light.
ReplyDeleteThe best thing about winter is that the nights are long and snow-crusted and whole forests can be frosted over night. It's the time when the witches come out to plot and dreams run wild. Winter is the time where, if you know when to be awake, magical things can be witnessed.
ReplyDeletePS: You`re on my blog. :)
ReplyDeleteOutdoor ice skating at night when they turn on the little lights.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about winter is being colse to family and friends and feeling all cozy and warm even though it is cold. And also wearing long jackets and boots!

Oh, Dearest, what a lovely little zine!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite thing about Winter is how there is nothing more healing for heartbreak and boneache than sitting under the covers with a warm cup of hot chocolate, a good book and beautiful music. Listening to the rain beat against my window calms me like no other.
Love, Athena. xxxx

xoxoxoxox
MJ, your zine looks so sweet!
ReplyDeleteI everything about winter. I love cold, I love snow, I love having hot chocolate by the fireside, I love christmas. Just everything.
<3
Good luck to everyone!
ReplyDeleteI love the rain and snow (if we had snow).
This is a fantastic giveaway! You are so talented!
ReplyDeleteI live in New Zealand so for me it's summer at the moment and the best thing about it is a house full of fresh flowers, road trips with friends and barbecues that last long into the night!
My favorite thing about winter is drinking hot chocolate with marshmallows in front of the fire. With peppermint.
ReplyDeleteI love winter because the weather is cooler and it is a good time to slow down and reflect on life. It's a very peaceful period for me.
ReplyDeleteYour magazine looks positively gorgeous...
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about winter is that for once I can dream endlessly about the Arctic Circle, polar bears, and the Northern Lights and no one thinks it strange.
xx
Hi! I really like your blog and I'm glad to find someone who loves winter as well. While fall is probably my favorite, winter is second-best. I live in Florida where it never snows, so I have to wait until the winter to feel any sort of cool breeze, haha.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about winter is being able to appreciate warmth. Because the sun is so unforgiving most of the year in FL, I'm often grumbling while wiping sweat off my face. But in winter, I can wrap myself in beautiful scarves and hats and mittens and feel the true comfort of warmth in relation to the chilly winds. Tea and fireplaces mean so much more. :)
Winter. My favourite part about it is my birthday! I get to spend time with all my favourite people in the coldest time of the year, and they warm me up with their happiness :)

I've posted a link to this on my blog. (latest entry @ http://ghostattick.blogspot.com/2010/12/finds-more-current-internet.html)
ReplyDeleteResponded to your question on livejournal!

Winter's when bears go into hibernation, animals, as well fall into deep sleep, oblivious to wonderful events happening around them. For these creatures, it's a time to settle down, quieten down.
ReplyDeleteHowever, human beings, us, celebrate and welcome this season. Woollen mittens, furry scarfs, leather boots! Even our dog is dressed for the best. I remember I used to hang my stockings over the fireplace, write letters to Santa, though I never found his exact address.
That's why I adore winter. Playing in the snow, skating over frozen ponds. Because it brings back memories. It does not snow (at all) where I live now, but I was lucky to experience 3 months of snow when I was younger. I loved it and I definitely missed it.xx

Winter, for me, is the darkness slipping early beneath my skin and icy fingers I can no longer feel. It is easier to feel fragile in the dark. But winter is also birthdays of those I love most, Christmas, glittering lights and plotting presents. I love that winter brings me midnight sledging and spiced hot chocolate, pockets of time to snuggle down in with books and music and blankets. I love how it brings people together. And I love the untouched silence of fallen snow, how it is like no other quiet and how it is like the world is just beginning again.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite thing about winter is the contrast between the cold and the snow outside, and the warmth and light inside the house. I also love knitted jumpers and woolly socks, Christmas movies, having so much time on my hands, hot cocoa, and becoming a little child again when I'm playing in the snow.
ReplyDeleteI really, really love your zine. If I don't win it, I think I will buy it as a present to myself :)

My favorite thing about winter is being able to stay home watching loads of films, while snuggling up with a warm blanket and drinking cinnamon tea. I love the holidays it brings, and at the same time all the joy attached to the holidays!

Much love to you and your blog, and hoping you have a great New Year, xx
I live in a country with no seasons to speak of - it is literally sunny all year round, except the monsoon 'season' at the end of the year.
ReplyDeleteThere are always things about 'seasons', things you like about them, things you don't like about them. I can't really tell which is my favourite, really, it is almost all the same to me.
I like it when it sunny, the sky is all blue and there are fluffy clouds in the sky. It makes me feel awake. But then again, it gets really humid here which makes my skin break out, which I don't really like.
During the monsoon season, it is rainy all the time. It just keeps raining and raining and raining, which makes it so difficult to head out anywhere. The good thing about it? The cool breeze that flows through the house and over my back, which makes me feel like I'm somewhere away from home. It is kind of the only chance of getting to a cold place.
By the way, it is 2011 here already so Happy New Year (:

Honestly... I love the winter vacation. I love the rest and the leisure and the stillness. I'm not much of a partier or adventurer or social-seeker, and I mostly just stay inside and binge on the Internet and read hours and hours straight - but that's good enough for me. Winter offers an opportunity of much-needed escapism within a very hectic schedule (ranging from the concrete to the emotional).
ReplyDeletehave you decided on any winners? i'm so excited!
ReplyDeleteThis little booklet is such a marvellous idea! And it looks so neat.
